Pat Gets a Cat marked Emily's film and Northwestern University debut. She gamely played along when a decidedly different role was offered to her for The World of the End; she flew out from school and shot the entire part in one day with no formal rehearsal (and not much informal either).

Although the stage remains her first love, Emily is also an accomplished singer and did voice acting work for the miniseries Gravitation.

In late 2006 she achieved minor Internet celebrity status as the star of the 'Code Monkey Dance' video, featured on NPR.
